Something that schools don't teach you but is much needed: how to have a work/life balance that works for you.

As someone who works fulltime and does classes and attempts a social life and hobbies, this gets very hard and stressful. But here are some tips I have for helping:

  • Learn to say no and not feel guilty. Picking up that extra shift when you had plans? Politely decline. Your friend is begging you to take ANOTHER class when your plate is full so you can have one together? Just be honest and say you can't.
  • Prioritize your sleep and eating. You can't function well if you don't sleep and eat enough. These are not things you can just push aside and do when you get the time. These are basic things you need to survive. These are literally basic needs. Don't throw them to the side. Your body does its best to take care of you. Make sure you take care of it too.
  • Have boundaries and be firm with them. If you tell your manager you can only work x, y, and z, don't let them add a or b to it. Respectfully but firmly let them know that you can't take on those things and if they have you do a or b, your work overall is going to majorly decrease in quality. Schedule time for yourself. For studying. For going out. And treat those set aside times just like you would if they were work or school times or appointments. You are the most important part of your life.
  • Understand that some weeks are going to be absolute hell. You're not going to have enough time. You're going to be exhausted and cry and throw things and want to quit everything. You got this babe. Take breaks and remind yourself how amazing you are and treat yourself after.
  • Prioritize things and adopt better habits. Wash your dishes right after using them. Get a set bedtime. Get easy breakfast things. Take a walk.
  • Your friends will understand if you just need time alone. I promise. They love you and don't hate you because you're overwhelmed. I PROMISE. And if they don't, maybe they aren't really your friends.
  • Not everyone is a friend. Some people are acquaintances. Some people are a 5 minute smoke break at work for your sanity. Some people are drinking buddies. Some people are library study date friends. And that's ok! Not everyone has to be your bestie. And trying to put that much energy into that many people will drain you.

SPIDERVERSE SPOILERS

ACROSS THE SPIDERVERSE OBSERVATION AND THEORIES, MIGUEL IS A FAKKKKE

Watching ATSV again and here's what I noticed the writers really wanted us to notice (bc they repeat it so many fucking times).

  • Having your cake and eating it too

Of course miles replies to this with "not unless you make two cakes," but the sentiment is repeated again when Pavitr is trying to save his GF and the inspector, "I can do both." And then it's repeated again while Miguel is reprimanding Gwen for not stopping miles. Miles says "I thought you were trying to save me" to which Gwen replies "I was trying to do both," and then after realizing that his Dad might have to die for the Spiderverse, Miles argues "I can do both."

  • Miguel O'Hara isn't a Spiderman

We all know nothing in animation is a mistake and there's too many instances where Miguel O'Hara's spiderness/morality is questioned. First when meeting Gwen and she's guessing he's anything other than spiderman, then when Gwen is explaining Miguel to Miles (as a good vampire) miles says "a vampire that's good?" AND THEN when Peter is throwing his baby all over Miguel Peter says something like: "you're not funny, Spiderman's always funny." And THEN, of course, when Miguel is chasing Miles and climbing with his claws, Miles comments "you have claws? Are you sure you're spiderman?"

A N D T H E N the smoking gun is: where is Miguel's Spidey sense???

They do a good job of showing how almost every time a Spidey person meets another their Spidey sense goes off. It doesn't when Miguel meets Gwen. Additionally, the part right after he's introduced and the glider is about to attack him NO SPIDEY SENSE TO ALERT HIM. Pretty weird.

Idk what the theme of the cake and eating it will lead to, but as for O'Hara, I predict that the normie Miguel who supposedly died and then Spidey Miguel replaced him is not how it went. I think Spidey Miguel died and normie miguel replaced him. That's why Miguel is projecting so much lol. If everyone thinks Miles is the threat than no one will see it's Miguel

I'd like to preface this by saying it would be unfair of me to pass judgement on a movie that hasn't even come out yet, specially when its two prequels have proved the writers can write an excellent story.

However, I do feel like I need to share how I would feel were they to go with the "x dies" in the third movie.

(this is only based on theories and predictions I've been seeing here and there)

  1. If who dies is Gwen, I would be dissapointed because of yet another woman (1 of 3 with predominantly speaking roles next to a cast of like 10+ male characters) getting fridged only to further the male protagonist's story. Also, Gwen is not "female romantic interest" Gwen, she's Spider-Woman Gwen*. Plus, and this is barely a detail, it wouldn't even be an original comic adaptation, we've already seen this on screen, let's find something new. And before anyone goes "but it's a canon event!" (to which I'd argue "no" because of this*) that's my point 2.
  2. If Miles doesn't manage to save his dad (or loses someone in general as per the "necessary canon event") I'd feel like the moral of the story, the thread that connects all three movies would be absolutely wrecked**. What's connecting all the movies, what's so amazing, interesting and unique about Miles is that he's "an anomaly", he "should't be". That's something Miles is constantly fighting against, and not only within his story's universe but in our world, too, with loads of people refusing to acknowledge him for the spiderman he is! (hypocritically so, given that at the same time they preach how "anyone can wear the mask") I even saw someone point out how it could be interpreted as an allegory for how (our) society sees him as a young black man trying to find his place in the world (but I am not the person to talk about this, so I encourage anyone that wants to comment on this to do so in the comments), so to have him throw this beautiful line

"Everyone keeps telling me how my story is supposed to go. Nah, I'ma do my own thing."

only for the story to end in the moral that he shouldn't have??? That he should've accepted that his power wasn't his, that that story wasn't for him??? After his own mother told him to "never let anyone tell you you don't belong there because you do"????? Insane, makes no sense, absolutely out of character for the plot itself!!!

**this is based on how I imagine it could be done, but granted I am not a writer.
